McKinney, TX

Clover Lane’s exciting new adventure is the restoration of the Bingham Estate, a historic home on 1.4 acres near downtown McKinney, Texas. Work on the Bingham Estate is going on now. The historic house and pool are complete. The cottages are expected to be completed in 2024.

The house was completed in 1883 by Captain John Henry Bingham, a Civil War soldier and newspaper typesetter who was inspired by a similar estate he had seen in Georgia. The Bingham Estate housed the captain, his wife, and six children while he worked first at the Dallas Herald newspaper and then the McKinney Enquirer (conveniently located just next door), which Bingham had purchased. Over the next century and a half, the Bingham Estate evolved from a family home into a bed and breakfast and wedding/meeting venue, with some modernization taking place as recently as 2020.

We are continuing that tradition, by returning the space to a short-term residential and guest space, as well as adding vacation cottages and a pool on the property. The historic house includes four suites with individual bathrooms and sleeps up to 8 people. The cottages will be 1 bedroom suites with king size beds. The entire estate will sleep up to 20 people.
